Donald L. Rheem III
Donald L. Rheem is the principal of RheemMedia, a media and communications consultancy based in Washington, DC. An award winning former print and broadcast journalist, Washington Bureau Chief, Cabinet-level speechwriter, and White House correspondent, Don brings more than 20 years of experience to his marketing and communications initiatives for his clients. Mr. Rheem is a professional speaker, facilitator, and media consultant.
Prior to forming his own firm, Mr. Rheem headed the private sector communications practice at ICF Consulting, a Washington-based consulting firm, offering public and private sector clients marketing and communications strategic counsel and services. Previously, he served as senior vice president with Ruder Finn, a New York City based top-ten PR firm, where he managed a national marketing and brand identity campaign for the Discovery Channel. He specialized in designing, implementing and managing large-scale communications campaigns designed to “move the needle” of public opinion for private sector clients. His experience includes counseling on marketing, brand strategy, media relations programs, executive communications training, video and multimedia production, and Internet-based client services. In 1998 he won the top awards for marketing communications from the National Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and from the Association for Women in Communications.
Mr. Rheem began his Washington career as a technical consultant to the Science Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives where he provided counsel on a wide range of science and technology policy issues. This was followed by several years as a full-time special assistant to the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Mr. Rheem offers his Executive Communication Seminar program, and has personally trained hundreds of executives from Fortune 500 companies, trade associations, and the government. He is acknowledged as an expert in media and presentation training, and is a member of the National Press Club, The Society of Professional Journalists, the Radio and Television News Directors Association, and Washington’s Metropolitan Club. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences, Biology, and Political Science from Principia College and did graduate work at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
