The following engagements serve as examples of the variety, breadth and depth of LaunchDreams' services

 

InphoMatch - Chantilly, VA   (Merged with MobileWay in 2004 to become Mobile365)

Engaged by CEO to create the new corporate strategy for this leading and fast-growing US and international provider of data and messaging services for mobile operators such as inter-carrier SMS (Short Messaging Service). Facilitated and led strategic planning sessions with entire Executive Management team and wrote the new strategic plan. Advised CEO on a number of other operational aspects of the corporation. Also provided cultural mentoring to foreign-born (German) founder and senior Executive at the company. Also engaged by the V.P., Product Management to devise the future product portfolio which included evaluation of content plays and globalization of services.

Shortly thereafter, InphoMatch merged with Mobileway to form Mobile365. Mobileway365 later on was acquired by Sybase for $397 million

 

Acterna, Inc - Germantown, MD (Acquired by JDS Uniphase in July, 2005)

Acterna, a $ 1/2 billion company, offers an large portfolio of award-winning instruments, systems, software and services that help its customers reduce network costs while improving performance and reliability. Headquartered in the U.S. – with European and Asia-Pacific operations headquartered in Germany and Hong Kong – Acterna serves nearly every major global communications service provider (telecom and cable) and equipment manufacturer in 40 countries. Acterna engaged LaunchDreams to a) help with  both multicultural issues and b) with reigniting innovation in this very global company.

 

Angle Technology - Guildford, U.K.

ANGLE Technology Group, a publicly traded company in the U.K. with offices in various parts of the world a) consults on the commercialization of technology for major corporations, universities, regional and national economic development agencies and the government, b) takes direct management responsibility for activities such as the operation of research parks and technology incubators, and c) invests in, establishes and owns significant equity stakes in a portfolio of technology companies. Angle engaged LaunchDreams for a variety of projects in all aspects of Angle's business incl. to help build the national economy of an entire country in the Middle East to be based on innovation instead of natural resources, help with technology-led economic development issues in various states in the U.S., and support the venture investment arm of Angle.

 

R+W Coupling Technology - Chicago, IL

Engaged by German headquarters of this manufacturer of high-precision power transmission products to serve as (part-time) Top U.S. Executive (COO) of the very fast-growing Chicago-based U.S. headquarters.  Act and advise on all matters, including corporate strategy, operations, HR, Accounting, Legal, and serve as adviser for Germany-based executive management.

 

Quappa, Inc. - Leesburg, VA

When Germany-based yWorks GmbH and Algorithmic Solutions Software GmbH made the move to expand their businesses in the U.S.A. by launching the new joint venture Quappa, they engaged LaunchDreams to act as the local representative regarding the company formation, to help with strategic and operational aspects of launching and running the company. to act as strategic advisor, and to provide management expertise and services. LaunchDreams also helped locate and lease office space, living quarters for company executives, securing bank accounts, etc. so that company executives could  immediately focus on the business at hand. TEKES - National Technology Agency of Finland (Helsinki)/Embassy of Finland (Washington, DC)

Engaged the National Technology Agency of Finland to to analyze and write a detailed study report on the Information and Communications technology clusters and subclusters in Greater Washington, DC metropolitan area. The study was supposed to be a qualitatively high in terms of being able to answer questions specifically of interest to TEKES and Finnish companies but also rooted on excellent quantitative analysis. The project also includes briefing of high-level visitors from Finland to the Finnish Embassy on the results of the study

Washington State University (WSU) - Pullman, WA

Engaged by the Provost of WSU to address a variety of strategic and operational aspects, including addressing strategic and operational aspects of WSU's separate corporation which commercializes WSU's intellectual property, inventions and know-how. Analyzed the operational and strategic issues, facilitated strategic planning sessions with the Board of Directors, wrote the strategic plan and presented the plan to the Board of Directors for approval. Advised the entity on a number of other operational aspects. Furthermore
* advised WSU on strategies regarding WSU's role in economic development, i.e. contributing to the economic well-being of the state of Washington.
* created stronger linkages between WSU and businesses and other potential partners in the state.
* created an entrepreneurial culture within the university itself; advising WSU on the role WSU's urban campuses around the state can play as possible economic engines in those regions, especially Spokane

 

 

Loudoun County Government - Leesburg, VA

Engaged by Loudoun County, the fastest growing county in the entire United States (and home to headquarters such as America Online and MCI) to act as “International Business Ambassador”. The focus is on serving as Ambassador for foreign-owned companies currently located or contemplating to locate in Loudoun County, networking with senior executives of U.S. based corporations as well as foreign headquarters, representation in international initiatives such as the World Cities Alliance, and building and maintaining relationships abroad.

Engaged by Loudoun County, the fastest growing county in the entire United States (and home to headquarters such as America Online and MCI) to act as “International Business Ambassador”. Montgomery County Government - Rockville, MD

Engaged by Montgomery County, a premier technology hot spot in the country (with the 2nd highest concentrations of high-tech workers in the U.S.) and the economic technology engine for the state of MD to help with their attendance and outreach at CeBIT 2005, the premier global IT and Telecommunications Trade Fair in the world, taking place in Germany. The focus is on advising in areas such as: strategic preparation for the show, navigation at this huge show with more than 5,000 exhibitors and more than 500,000 visitors from more than 50 countries, outreach at the show, language and logistical assistance, and cross-cultural consultation

NexMap - Leesburg, VA

NexMap is a start-up company which intends to develop a proprietary software application specifically designed to provide historical and location mapping information presented in a unique graphical user interface.

LaunchDreams advised on company formation, technology development and initial product design, and a LaunchDreams representative was asked to serve as President & COO.

Company names withheld - UK, Germany, and Japan

LaunchDreams advised corporations from Japan, the United Kingdom and Germany regarding their market entry into the United States.
